Task 2 Final Design

This is my final design.

Task 2 Final Idea

I wanted to somehow use the pleat that I had already made and somehow fit some typography in, but I didn't want to take the light off the pleat in anyway because of the effort I had put into it.

So I decided to design some typography through the pleat, but this did not work as well as I wanted it to because of the way the text sits on the page.
This design seemed to work a lot better for me because it was focusing on the two main things on the page.
I do prefer the darker piece because the type is easier to read and the image is clearly visible. I am very pleased with the final outcome of this poster design and this will be my final piece.

Pleating

Pleating was the hardest thing that I have ever had to do. It was mind boggling trying to find out which different ways the paper should sit. When something when wrong it took me quite a while to get it right again. Once I had finished the design it looked fantastic and I wanted to use it for my poster even if I didn't use much of it.
I have simply shown the same pleat in different scenarios of light and dark. The way that the light captures each individual angle, edge and corner is amazing.
This piece is using a different type of paper. It was thing and a lot more bendable than the cartridge paper that I used previously, but it still took me round about the same time to complete it because it is so mind boggling.

Task 1 Final Design

I simply hung my piece to see if the glue would hold. I wanted them to nearly sit on top of each other. I am very please with the out come of this design. The shapes that it creates as a final piece look great.

Task 1 Final Idea

This shows the sequence in which the piece is put together.
Each separate model intersects and forms a repeat pattern.
This is the base for the model complete
The final product shows the different intersections and folds. It also shows how much I have had to experiment to get to were I wanted to be with my final design.

Task 1 Final Idea

This design came to me through a simple origami site that I have further developed. By making 15 of these simple forms I can intersect them to make a star like shape that works very well as a shape.

This shape to me looks like an arrow head which is a great way of describing the way in which the model flows.

Here is a quick video on how I made the model.

Task 1 Ideas

These are a few of shapes and forms that have inspired me and my work through this module. From these shapes you can create anything using the technique of repeat.
Through the ideas and design behind these shapes there are many ways in which I can develop my designs further. The idea of intersecting my be a way of building on the size of the final product.
